Vavavoom! - No. 2

Everybody is going Green!

Some go green with envy, others paint their walls in earth-tones, but a smart few actually switch to environment friendly practices. They are the ones who will benefit most financially on the long term!

There are too many companies still out there who think this is just another trend that will pass, so they elect to make only minor modifications.

Green Catering is one of the many trends apparent in our industry and this particular trend is here to stay as modern societies are becoming aware of the global challange. There will come a time, I'm sure, when every product without exception will be 'green', not by choice, but by necessity. That is when we will no longer think of this as a trend. It will have went mainstream.

If you consider doing your fair share for Mother Nature's sake, please see below a few ways to save trees and energy:

  • Instead of sending out fancy invitations (that most likely consist of a multi-layered card, response set, ribbon, envelope, stamp and two-way shipping, etc.) choose the option of an e-vite. You can either send out an e-mail blast from your personal e-mail account or use the services of a specialized website such as http://www.evite.com/. And do not worry about the perception of your invite, just make sure you add a line letting your guests know that they saved a tree by receiving the notification electronically.

  • If you are hosting at your home, purchase products from Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Publix Greenwise or from the Organic Isle at your local supermarket. Not only will your dishes be made from fruits and vegetables that were not artificially fertilized, thus making them healthier for you and the environment, but also better-tasting.

  • Use recycled products when paper items are needed (beverage napkins, favor bags, etc.)

  • Use reusable products as much as possible. (flatware, silverware, linen napkins, et.)

... and keep in mind that anything made is China is anything but green! And most likely 12 year old kids make it! Shop with conscience, my child!
